Everyone with an iphone can take a picture, but not everyone can take an image from idea to quality artwork that you will want to look at everyday. My “eye” and photography comes from years of playing around with cameras backed by coursework and then loads and loads of practice. I honestly can’t remember when I didn’t have a camera starting with my Dad’s old Canon F-1 (which weighs a ton!). I was always fascinated by how you can take this strip of plastic and a bunch of chemicals and produce luminous images that captured a moment in time and made people stop and laugh or sigh or just smile. My favourite subjects were nature-related – animals, flowers, landscapes. I came to realise that it wasn’t just a moment I was capturing, it was a memory. Done right, the image allowed the viewer to re-experience that event.\u00a0<\/p>

When I photograph pets, I can convey the range of emotions from the exuberant love of a puppy to the sweet remembrance of an older pet to the freedom of riding on horseback with the wind in your face. In my travels, images of vast and wild landscapes from the grasslands of Africa to the rugged west coast of Canada can transport the viewer to a time and place. Wild animals from Tanzania to India share a different story of strength and mystery.
